Atlanta Riots of 1906
-In late September of 1906, the city of Atlanta broke out with racial violence after the election of Hoke Smith, who ran on a platform of denying blacks the right to vote. On September 22, at least 16 black men were killed by a white mob. The white mob had around 10,000 people rioting and terrorizing blacks by destroying property and beating people in the streets. The rioting lasted for four days with an unknown total death toll.

Ship Building for WWII
-Shipbuilders on the coast of Georgia built over 200 cargo ships, called "Liberty ships," between 1942 and 1944 to transport troops and cargo for the Allies during World War II. Georgia was home to two major shipyards in Savannah and Brunswick, employing a total of 31,000 people. The peak of the construction was in the year 1944, when Brunswick produced 53 vessels, ahead of Jacksonville and Panama City, with 51 ships each.
